Scandinavian Punk kings get it on and get re-released!
'Ass Cobra' and 'Apocalypse Dudes'
Oslo is depressingly known as Norway’s suicide capital. It is also home to the kings of Scandinavian garage rock, Turbonegro. Like The Hives, these denim clad warriors have been cranking out primal Punk ’n’ Roll since 1996’s ‘Ass Cobra’ album but Turbonegro is a much darker beast altogether. Mixing The Who, Sex Pistols, Ramones and Stooges into glorious epic style with gay overtones, death and a dark sense of humour, Turbonegro imploded in 1998 with singer Hank ending up in a psychiatric ward as a result of a healthy drug habit. But, now there back, signed to the kings of taste Burning Heart Records, who have re-released the essential ‘Ass Cobra’ and ‘Apocalypse Dudes’ as a taster for the new album ‘Scandinavian Leather’, out in April. ‘Ass Cobra’ only hints at the epics to come, but ‘The Midnight Nambla’, ‘I Got Erection’ and ‘ Denim Demon’ have all become classics in their set.
