I forgot that traditional ska was actually pretty good music. Ska has been forever ruined by all the ska/punk bands that aren't even fun to laugh at anymore. It's been years since I've even considered pulling out any of the two-tone records I acquired back when I first got into punk. So, reading over the bio sheet for The Chickenpox, I almost didn't want to even bother listening to it. I was thinking: "Ska is ska", you know?
Approved by starts out with a nice number that is hardly ska at all, but with turntables and a really bouncy keyboard that piqued my interest. The second song launches into a traditional slow , upbeat ska sound that made me smile. These kooky Swedes know what they are doing.
