MINDJIVE was formed in the spring of -92 by Christian, Tobbe, Magnus and Erik. The first recording was a demotape that somehow made it's way to BURNING HEART RECORDS, that really liked what they heard. All this resulted in the recording of a 4-track debutsingle, entitled "GREEN GRASS", and was released in the autumn of -93.
In october -94, the second single from the band was released, this time untitled. MINDJIVE got excellent reviews, and quite a lot of fans. They had the oppurtunity to see the band live shortly thereafter, when MINDJIVE toured Sweden for a month together with Swedish SXE kings REFUSED.
During the spring of -95 the guitar spot was taken over from Erik by Mattias Börjed, giving the band a rawer yet broader sound. The addition of axeman Mattias, and an intense studio session with Pelle Saether in Studio Underground really took MINDJIVE's hard and heavy groovy rock to higher ground. It all comes together on the debutalbum "CHEMICALS", that is harder, more varied and way off better than earlier releases. "CHEMICALS" contains 12 groovy funk-rap-tunes cleverly spiced with little nickings from genres more or less likely. Among influences like BEASTIE BOYS and DIGABLE PLANETS one can trace influences from seventies and eightes disco as well as jazz and emo-core.
Diverse and groove packed songs like "JAMFUEL", "KAMIKAZE" and "THE VIRUS" are bound to get fans of the beasties and the coolness of the grand royal rhytms to seek out!
Also, a few weeks before the "CHEMICALS" release, a three track teaser ("PACKAGE DESIGN") was released. Including the videotrack "PACKAGE DESIGN" (the video produced by STEP ON IT) and two previously unreleased songs.
MINDJIVE live was an energetic and visually very entertaining experience. Lots of sweat, cool poses, arms and ligs both here there and everywhere.... Among others, in the summer of -96 MINDJIVE did some very succesfull festival shows in Sweden (BERGSLAGSROCKEN, HULTSFREDSFESTIVALEN).
