Home Grown first got together in their hometown Orange County during the end of the summer of 1994. Started off as a true garage band playing original tunes primarily in the alternative punk-style.
Since then, the band has been playing numerous shows and have built themselves a very good reputation as an ecxellent live act. The band themselves describes their liveapperances as "..a mixture of raw talent and entertaining showmanship-goofy funny & sexy!"
The debut album "That´s Business" was recorded at WestBeach Recorders in Hollywood together with producer Steve Kravac in 1995, and released the same year in the US by Liberation Records. Now, after raving reviews in american alternative press the album is released through the whole of Europe by Burning Heart Records.
"That´s Business" contains 15 songs that would/Could/should take up the battle with gigants as GREEN DAY & RANCID. Drummer Bob Herco describes the sound of Home Grown as "Power-pop-punk-ska", and that description really sums it up. Songs like "GET A JOB", "SURFER GIRL" and "FACE IN THE CROWD" shows the bands talent to write punky songs with a great pop-edge added to it.
The lyrics takes on classic subjects as girlproblems, teenage angst and beachpartys. Not exactly classed as high-level poetry, but all in all important things to deal with for the youngsters in the band.
In addition to Herco, the band members include Ian Cone, Lead guitarist, Johnee Trash, Vocalist and rhythm guitar and Adumb Lohrbach, bassist.
During the summer of 96, Burning Heart Records also released a 5 track single with new songs of HOME GROWN. Check out the "THAT`S BUSINESS" album and enjoy!
Current state: HOME GROWN has a new album out that came out Outpost/Geffen Records, and some other singles and stuff out on other labels. The band is not on BHR any more.
