Lost Patrol Band, The
Songs About Running Away
Lineup:
Dennis Lyxzén, Lisa Miskovsky and friends.
• Album Description • Current Biography • Liner Notes
DENNIS LYXZÈN’s solo project THE LOST PATROL and the 2003-released album ”Songs About Running Away” is musically far away from what you’re used to hear from Dennis Lyxzén, the front man in The (International) Noise Conspiracy and previously REFUSED.
Together with a bunch of friends (David Sandström (REFUSED/THE FACER), Stefan Granberg (RANDY) Lisa Miskovsky and others, Dennis went in to the studio and recorded twelve tracks. ”Songs About Running Away” is the result, the follow up to the debut album ”Songs In The Key Of Resistance” which were released on Startracks a couple of years ago.

Pop, Politics and percussion from a true Swedish rock radical
DENNIS LYXZEN really doesn’t have anything to prove. After the implosion of his pivotal hardcore band Refused, he emerged with punk credentials intact (straight-edge living, indie releases, benefit shows), while current band the (International) Noise Conspiracy puts the proverbial money where his political mouth is.
All of which makes ‘Songs About Running Away’ all the more endearing, After all, you only write and record a set of flute-laden folkish protest songs because you want to. As The Lost Patrol, Lyxzén does just that, filtering influences as disparate as Bob Dylan, Fugazi and The Polyphonic Spree into a set of songs that are deeper and ultimately more uplifting than 2001’s autumnal-sounding ‘Songs in the Key of Resistance’ debut, with ‘Alright’ a beatific, sunny pop masterpiece. Curious, but ultimately inspiring.

Now this is an interesting CD to review. Here at Punktastic towers we are used to Emo Band 1.0, 'Screamo' band 53 or the pop-punk heretics, but we don't often get to listen to something as relaxingly simple as Dennis Lyxzén's solo project 'The Lost Patrol'. You may recognize the name from his Refused and (International) Noise Conspiracy days, but this twelve song effort couldn't be possibly further from either of those bands output. Helped out by a few friends from other bands such as Randy and The Facer, he has put together an eclectic mix of songs which both make you feel relaxed and somewhat disgruntled at the same time.
